Class Classifications
Please understand that these are general parameters to the class selection. We want to choose the best class for each swimmer to learn in. At the instructors decision a child can be moved to a different skill level. Please use these definitions to further help our aquatics department when selecting your child’s swim level.

Water Baby: (6 months- 2 years) This is a mommy and me class that includes the parents' participation. The skills covered are waters adjustment, arm and leg movement, assisted float on front and back, assisted glide and rolling over. This class is as much for parents to learn as it is for the child.

Hydrotots: (3 years-5 years) This level is for children in who will be learning the basics. New swimmers that are of age would fit well in this class. The level includes the following skills that will be taught; floating on front and back, bobbing, flutter kick, jumping into water safely, glide on front in back, arm and leg movement and coordination, water safety.

Tadpoles: (4 years-6 years) This level is for children who have accomplished the basics of swimming such as floating on front and back but need improvement on body position and arm and leg movements. The skills taught are identical to Hydrotots but are much better developed by the end of the session.

Dolphins: This level is for children who have accomplished the basics of swimming and can swim unassisted for at least 5 feet. The skills that are covered include; swimming past five feet, synchronized arm and leg movements, breathing to the side, flutter kicks, introduction to all strokes( backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly), and water safety.

Sharks: This is the most advanced level of our program and swimmers in this group are able to swim independently and are looking to swim more distance. The fundamentals of all the strokes will be taught. At this level most swimmers enter the Junior Swim Team at Aerofit!
